Cat & Olive Branch

birdbath

26 x 26 x 22.5″

If the lion will one day lie down with the lamb, then I suppose the housecat will be at peace with the chickadee. Living birds complete the image.

If the top of the birdbath were hung vertically like a plaque the reposing cat would look like a cat leaping for its prey. But she is touching the olive branch, slumbering, while her other paw curls in pleasure.

The water cavity is a triangle with edges hooking round clockwise and walls going corner to corner with a steep to shallow pitch. Thus the waterline (a smaller triangle) is canted in relation to it, once again clockwise. This gives a nice visual counterpoint to the cat’s reaching paw.
